Do you know how happy I am to see Sungjong back with natural/black hair? *dance*jig*dance*

I don’t know why but I’m always overjoyed when I see kpop idols go back to black (hair) especially so if they are my biases.

Maybe this is because Sehun’s (~~and the rest of exo~~) hair color changes already represent the whole kpop hair color universe for me. >.<

I bought two metres of the fabric for about USD14 so that’s USD7/m. It was originally USD17.50 per 2 metres so I got a good deal right? I mean, hand dyed cotton and all. It’s pricier than what I usually fork out for fabric but I’ll make it into a pretty dress.

I went with my sister to buy fabric for her dress and while she looked around for french laces, my eyes saw this GORGEOUS damask fabric. I looked around the entire store and didn’t really find anything quite to my liking so I asked for the price of that fabric that I spotted the first time. It’s HANDWOVEN genuine white damask from India and USD60/yard is the cheapest price he could give. fml

Way over my budget. so sad.

This is just a collection of very creepy accounts of very, very creepy, highly disturbed people. Think creepy, then multiply it by about 100. It’s the kind of stuff that makes you wonder if it is safe to go out of your house at all and a very good reminder to never ever trust strangers. That said, I think you’re fine if you don’t lurk around questionable websites to begin with such as online forums on cannibalism enthusiasts (LOL you deserve to be eaten if you do) or dubious matchmaking sites et cetera. Steer absolutely clear from porn-related sites and your chances of ever ending up like a victim in this book is probably really slim or close to none. This is an entertaining collection and very fast read. If you’re strong enough to stomach gory real life stories and are certain your faith on humankind won’t be shaken too much by such violent and horrendous accounts, then it’s definitely worth checking this out.

I give this 7/10.

I finished reading this in two sittings, alternating between this and A Feast For Crows by George R. R Martin which I have yet to finish reading because it is five times longer than an average YA novel - gahhhh. That is what I like about YA novels. Very easy read. The YA books I choose are usually in the supernatural genre, post-apocalypse sorta thing because chicklit YA is too boring for me.

To summarize it very briefly, the book is about a teenage girl from a monster-hunter lineage who goes undercover to fix the little problem of ghost haunting at a small high school tucked away in Mississippi. Simple as that. Add in a few unlikely friendships and a bit of romance in between and voila.

School Spirits is written by Rachel Hawkins of the Hex Hall series fame. In fact, this is a spinoff of Hex Hall and is quite a decent serial first book. However, I have to state beforehand that I definitely enjoyed Hex Hall far more than this one because School Spirits deals with just one ghost and that isn’t much fun at all with the exception of the trapped-in-mirror warlock Torin whose unpredictable actions and behavior (warlock watching teen tv soaps. hello~~~). The protagonist, 16 year old Isolde “Izzy” Brannick is feisty and has the formulaic YA heroine characteristics but isn’t annoying so that’s a thumb-up in my book. While reading this, I kept imagining her being played by Lindsay Lohan, the pre-drugs-and-sex-scandals version obviously, but all the other characters’ faces didn’t come to me so vividly. Oh, I imagined Ezra Miller as Dexter “Dex” O’Neil but Mr Miller is probably a tad more rugged pretty than the fancy Dex. Still, my favorite is the trapped, sarcastic warlock Torin. Unfortunately, the mystery of his relation to the Brannick family isn’t revealed yet in this book. It will probably unfold in the later books though so stay tuned.

I give this book 3 stars out of 5.

Scarlett Goodwin, resident geeky Math major with an anxiety problem in Southern University is cornered into tutoring the gorgeous, infamous Tucker Price to save the star athlete from flunking his academic semester and losing scholarship in return for expensive, new computer program for the Math department which could really boost Scarlett’s resumé. Both coming from broken homes with broken pasts, the start of the tutor-student relationship is awkward and shaky but as time passes, Scarlett warms up to that gentle and fragile side of Tucker that he never shows anyone else. Troubles come one after another but though the road isn’t easy, they break off each other’s barriers one by one and face things together. Will their love grow? Will he stay?

The beginning of the book is promising but the pace and plot sort of spiral down for me halfway reading through it because I find the characters seriously annoying with all the whining and self-accusation for things that don’t go right, especially Tucker. He is an okay character but towards the end of the story, his inconsistent actions remind me of an unstable, emo drama queen who makes mountain out of a molehill. Then again, he is a broken guy, so maybe that’s what broken people act like? I don’t know. The story just fits more in a high school scenario than college. Scarlett over analyzes everything. She talks too much in her head imo. I will let you decide if that is annoying or not. The biggest deal-breaker of this story is the character Tucker Price. He is just a girl written as a guy or a guy that’s clearly conjured from a female’s expectation and fantasy. What I am trying to say is that this Tucker is not a believable male character. His actions and line of thought just scream FEMALE IMAGINATIONNN. Sigh. Jericho Barrons is still the best.

Anyway, I would not recommend this book to anyone who is over high school age. As I said, this story reads more like a high school drama than a college one so if you’re like me, a little too old to buy into this s***, skip this one.

I give this book 2 stars out of 5 since the earlier chapters were exciting enough to skim through.
